INSIDE SCOOP ON FUMAN SKEETO
So you would
think that traveling across the country, making appearances on
television, magazines and at the record stores would be enough
for Chris. Although he is very proud to be a part of 'N Sync, he
has decided to add a few more titles to his credentials. Not only
is he a successful performer and music producer, but he has
become a fashion designer collaborating with the Fuman Crew to
create his line of Fuman Skeeto clothes. Chris will chat with you
LIVE on April 29th at 8:00 p.m. EST about his fresh fashionable
collection!
"I wanted to venture off and do something else as a hobby.
My little hobby consisted of producing a couple of artists and
possible starting a record label. The reason why I got into the
fashion part is because everything I wore would look so much
nicer if it only had this on it..it would be cool if I could do
this with it," Chris commented. He can be seen frequently
flashing off his favorite baggy pants by UFO. Yet, he continues
to think of ingenious ways to improve his wardrobe and create new
goals.
Chris carefully thought about wanting "an artist on MTV be a
Fuman Skeeto artist. I mean I have been doing a lot of writing
lately.. a lot of it is not all Pop up-tempo music. I would love
to take my songs and have it done for my artists and get them out
there". Fuman Skeeto Productions plans to develop an outlet
for talented people to submit demo tapes.
No, Chris isn't seeking a new singer to replace anyone in 'N Sync,
but he is on a search to find the next new performer to produce
and promote. "When the tapes come in, I sit and go through
and listen to each one," explained Chris. Ron Irizarry is
one of the first new talented guitarist and vocalist to launch
his career under the Fuman Skeeto name. He will be making some
appearances on 'N Sync's scheduled tour.
Chris specifically wants to create a unisex line of comfortable
clothing that appeals to numerous people. Some basic items in the
works include T-shirts, shorts, cut-off shirts, baseball and
football style long-sleeved jerseys and hats. Fuman Skeeto has
produced a few specialty items for Britney Spears, 'N Sync and
several other celebrities who have demanded to get a hold of the
unique brand. Chris' inspiration for Fuman Skeeto is that "We
can do anything. We just want to represent innovation.a whole new
vibe. We've done a lot of work bringing back some Velcro ideas,
bringing back fringe and designs with a couple of tie-dye ideas.
I want everyone to be happy wearing it. We want to be totally
different. We don't want to say.we got this [idea] from this
person and that [idea] from another. We just want to create
something comfortable and something we love to wear. We basically
want to be generically good for the people."
Whether you're a Leo or a Virgo, from San Francisco or San Diego,
everyone can wear Fuman Skeeto. Chris wants to develop his
business into to a brand that is well recognized from all
different aspects. " I want everyone to feel like they are a
part of the Fuman Crew..when they check out the website, get
involved with the clothing, the music, that's when they can say I
am in the Fuman Crew."
Currently, the Crew consists of some of Chris' friends and
business acquaintances he has met throughout the years and
performing with 'NSync.
Chris carefully selected a group of individuals whom he felt
would make his business become successful. Also, he wanted to
provide an atmosphere for his friends to practice their craft, as
well as build their careers. One of them use to go to school at
UCLA, one of them was working in Toronto as a secretary, one guy
use to be a security guard at Much Music, another guy use to be a
tattoo artist." Today, the tattoo artist designs many of the
logos and graphics for the Fuman
Skeeto collection. The security guard that once worked for the
popular Canadian music video countdown show Much Music, is now
handling Marketing and On-line Development for the company. The
rest of the Crew assists with the day-to-day business activities
and design decisions.
For anyone who is creative and aspires to have a successful
career in the future, Chris gives all of us a little of advice to
stick by when times get tough. "Just keep plugging away. You
know don't burn bridges, don't underestimate anyone.anybody can
be anybody at any time. Just do what you love to do and treat
people with respect. You never know when some guy you are blowing
off steam to talk to could be somebody who could help your career.
You never know when you may need their help."
So, if you didn't have a clue about the Fuman Crew, nor Chris
Kirkpatrick's Fuman Skeeto clothes, now you do! You're sure to
